Update
We are enjoying being on our property once again! We were in Mexico for two years and in 2019 we felt like the Lord was calling us back to Washington. It's been very eventful to say the least! I had said to my husband, "I feel like we are heading into a storm." Don't get me wrong, I was definitely excited to be back in the states, but I knew that I would miss some of the things in Mexico.
However, my intuition was correct. In 2020 we had the crazy COVID pandemic happening and in the midst of that chaos, my mom had an arterial blood clot and ended up in the hospital. Needless to say this was not good and she was in excruciating pain. After many surgeries and her being on a ventilator with no hope of recuperation, we made the decision to take her off the ventilator and she died hours after. It was a sad time for our whole family. Just a few weeks before this, I had felt a lump in my breast and was going to be seeing a doctor about it. I hadn't told my mother, as I didn't want to worry her.
Well, as it turned out the lump was cancer. I had a partial mastectomy and decided to change my diet and start exercising. I am so happy to report that I am cancer free after three and-a-half years!
I was correct about heading into a storm. But, praise God, He was with us through it all! Some days I felt like I was drowning - like I couldn't get enough air. On those days I would sit and listen to worship music and be in the presence of my Savior. My husband and kids were with me through it all and I am so thankful that they were there.
As fara as Cherith Brook goes, we have had several visitors and with that has been building projects that have made our property not even look like it once did! It has changed so much in the last few years that I can't wait to see what happens in the next five! We now have five cabins and one RV trailer! God brought people for our discipleship program at Cherith Brook and it has been so neat to see the students grow in the Lord.
We are big on fellowship and that was a trial for many people during the COVID scare. We had visitors coming from all around just so that they could be in fellowship when their churches shut down.
One of the things when my mom passed was finding a book she wrote called, "There's Life After Suicide". She wrote it three years after my brother took his own life. One of she and my dad's dreams was to get this book published and I am so happy to say that we just finished it and it is published as a printed book and an eBook! Some parts were difficult to get through remembering back to that awful day. But, in the end she gives hope to the hurting.
It seems like publishing books have been our thing lately and we just finished my husband's book "Grace in Plain Sight; The Power of Agape. That has been a book in the making for ten years! It started out as a class he offered, then, he turned it into a book so other people regardless of their location could learn about the power of GRACE! The response has been great and he has been asked to start speaking at several churches. We hope to have the eBook published soon!
Our family just keeps on growing! In September our son married Rebecca, who had been part of the discipleship program for three years. We are so joyful they found each other! They are expecting their first child in June! Storm has been working at the local hospital as a CNA and they have offered to pay for her schooling to become a Medical Assistant. Our youngest daughter, Sarah met and married Cole when we were in Mexico. He loves living at Cherith Brook and enjoys having his kids being raised here. They have two children - Felicity and Nathaniel. Love continues to grow! Mark and I are loving being grandparents. They are such a delight!
